PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Green Bay Packers won’t be signing free-agent outside linebacker Manny Lawson. The team was never in the mix for him, according to an NFL source.
The Packers were reportedly one of five teams that had expressed an interest in Lawson, the No. 22 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft who spent last season with the Cincinnati Bengals after five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
But the source said the Packers, who are bringing in their former 2006 seventh-round pick, Dave Tollefson, in for a visit later this week, never got into the pursuit of Lawson.
