GREEN BAY – Aaron Rodgers loves a good practical joke as much as the next guy, but it was hard to tell whether the Green Bay Packers quarterback was amused or angered by fullback John Kuhn’s shaving cream pie-to-the-face prank Monday.
Rodgers was about a minute into what was supposed to be his weekly 5-minute media briefing at his locker after practice Monday when Kuhn swooped in from Rodgers’ left – from the entrance to the locker room nearest the equipment room – and put a towelful of shaving cream into the NFL MVP’s mug.
Here’s how far Rodgers, who spent most of Monday’s practice on the scout team since he won’t play more than one series in Thursday night’s preseason finale against Kansas City, got in his Q&A session with reporters before Kuhn struck:
Q: How did you like your scout-team work?
Rodgers: I love doing those reps, takes me back to the old days with Ruvell (Martin) and those guys. It’s a lot of fun. It actually turns into 1s offense vs. 1s defense, where we’re running carded plays at times. But it’s fun.
Q: More fun than your interception during the jog-through?
Rodgers: No, not quite.
Q: How do you prepare for a game where you’ll only play a series or two?
Rodgers: I think you have to start looking toward next week to be honest with you. This week is really for the young guys, we’ve got 75 guys and we have to cut 22 to get down to our beginning-of-the-season roster, so a lot of jobs are up for grabs for those guys. I think for the 1s, we kind of want to get in, get out and not have anybody ...
Get hit in the face with shaving cream?
That was the end of Rodgers’ interview session. He departed for the equipment room in search of a cream-free towel to clean himself off after that. He did seem somewhat perturbed by it, although he never said so.
