Man bites dog ... er, quarterback?

Dec 23, 2009 -- 5:12pm

GREEN BAY – Aaron Rodgers might want to wear something a little thicker than his usual thermal undershirt beneath his No. 12 jersey Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback said Wednesday that during the teams’ game at Qwest Field last season, Seahawks defensive end Darryl Tapp actually bit him on the upper arm at the end of a fourth-quarter play.

“Tapp actually bit me last year through my jersey. I wasn’t too happy about that,” Rodgers offered up during his usual Wednesday chat with reporters at his locker. “He bit me through my long-sleeve I was wearing.”

Looking at the tape of the game, the play in question occurred with under 10 minutes to go in the game on a sack of Rodgers. Rodgers pushes Tapp’s face into the turf as he gets up after the play and is clearly angry, later looking at his left triceps area.

Asked what he said to Tapp at the time, Rodgers said, “There wasn’t a whole lot of words spoken. I looked down and my arm was hurting like a bee sting, and I looked down and he was biting my arm. I had to get his teeth off my shoulder.

“Lucikly, I was wearing a long sleeve, so I don’t know if he actually (broke the skin). I had a bruise there for the rest of the season. Other than that I was good.”

Tapp responded via his Twitter account (translated from Twitterese to English): "How can a football player bite another player when he's wearing a helmet and mouthpiece? C'mon people, let's be serious here. And of all people, me?"
